The cloister, or four-sided arched walkway pictured at the left, is a unique feature of St. Gertrude the Great Church. It is used for liturgical processions, meditation and socializing after Mass, and hearkens back to the cloisters of Gothic cathedrals and monasteries. It surrounds a quiet garden with stone paths converging on a fountain.
