The Divine Life of the Most Holy Virgin

Being an Abridgment of The Mystical City of God
by Ven. Mary of Agreda
with Preface by Bp. Daniel L. Dolan

Venerable Mary of Agreda (1602-1665) was a Spanish nun of the Order of the Immaculate Conception. She is known especially for her missionary work among the Indians in America, which she did by the miracle of bilocation, and where she was called “the Lady in Blue.” The most famous of her written works is “The Mystical City of God,” a biography of the Blessed Virgin Mary. “The Divine Life” is a faithful abridgment of Mary of Agreda’s work in one volume. It was originally prepared by Fr. Bonaventura Amadeo De Cesare, the Consultor of the Sacred Congregation of the Index. This edition is based on the one published in France in 1853, and the words of Our Lord and Our Lady appear in bold text.
